At age 35 I walked into a Gracie Barra pronounced "Gracie Baha" in my neighborhood and signed up for classes. It's been well over a year since my first class and I just received my blue belt from Kayron Gracie. Outlined below are some products that have kept me on the mat rolling 3-4 days a week. Everyone of these item I have used and recommend.
This is an absolute must, I can't even begin to tell you the amount of twisting and cranking your back receives. If you've never rolled on one of these foam rollers you are in for a treat. It is very theriputic and releases the deepest muscle tension. Each color is a different density or hardness. The black one is the hardest, blue is pretty soft and I think white is the softest.
Long Sleeve Rash Guard - This is a very important item to always wear. Whether you are rolling GI or No-Gi this is a must. It keeps the maximum amount of your skin covered and protected from skin fungus' like ring worm or worse. The compression of the fabric helps with circulation and wicks moisture away from your skin. This is important if plan on rolling for long periods of time and sweating profusely.
Compression Shorts - Keeps the goods, good. I couldn't imagine rolling in cotton briefs or boxers, your legs are spread eagle in a lot of positions so I prefer the comfort of knowing it's strapped down and not going to get caught on anything.
